Texas Republican denounces Biden’s inaction at the border: failing to protect citizens from the ‘invasion’ of drug cartels
Representative Jodey Arrington, R-Texas, presents a resolution to assert the rights of states to defend themselves against drug cartels on the southern border of the United States.
In an interview Friday on “The Faulkner Focus” with Harris Faulkner, Arrington cited section four of the Constitution as support for his resolution. Article four offers protection to states against an invasion which he says occurs at the border due to the presence of armed criminals.
“When the federal government has not done its job to defend the border, protect its citizens, then it is the sovereign power and the inherent right of states to stand up for themselves and their citizens,” Arrington said.
TOM HOMAN: THE “MOST INHUMAN” BIDEN BORDER POLICY I HAVE EVER SEEN AND RISK OF “NATIONAL SECURITY CRISIS”
Arrington isn’t the only one calling for action at the border. Texas Democrat Henry Cuellar called on President Biden and Vice President Harris to visit the border so they can witness the crisis.
“All I ask of this administration and the previous administration is to listen to the people who live on the border,” Cuellar said. “We don’t come to visit for a few hours. Actually, we live there.”
FLASHBACK: HARRIS PROTEST AT THE SOUTHERN FRONTIER IN 2018, BUT HAS NOT VISITED SINCE HIS ROLE AS A MIGRANT
Arrington echoed Cuellar’s calls, adding that Harris is not taking any responsibility or not addressing the issue.
“I think this is completely disrespectful to the citizens who live in the communities along the border. They have shown no concern in putting our citizens first.”
More than 30 House Republicans have also called for action. In a letter to Senate leaders McConnell and Schumer, House members urged the Senate to reject Biden’s choices for key roles in the Department of Homeland Security. They warn that Biden’s candidates will not take appropriate action to end the border crisis.

The policies of the Biden administration have “crippled” the efforts of Border Patrol and ICE agents, according to Arrington, resulting in “lawlessness and chaos.”
Arrington said the situation is “absolutely an invasion and a threat like we have never seen before to the safety and security of our citizens in Texas and across the border. And I think they have all rights protected. by the Constitution to defend themselves. “
