Texan woman arrested after child was found dead in motel room
Texas authorities believe a child who was found dead in a motel room on Tuesday is missing boy Samuel Olson, and have arrested Theresa Balboa, the boy’s father’s girlfriend.
Samuel, who would have turned 6 this weekend, was initially reported missing last Thursday by Balboa.
At that time, she reportedly told police that the boy’s mother and a police officer had come to her home and took Samuel away, but authorities say his story began to unravel as they investigated .
On Tuesday, the Jasper Police Department received anonymous intelligence via Crime Stoppers and searched a motel, where they discovered the body of a boy.
“At the moment, we believe the child is Samuel, but we cannot confirm that it is indeed him until the medical examiner makes this decision,” said the deputy head of the department. Houston Police Station. Heather Morris said at a press conference on Wednesday morning.

Balboa was arrested at the motel and charged with tampering with evidence, but Morris said more charges are likely as the investigation continues.
Dalton Olson, the boy’s father, told KPRC 2 he didn’t understand why this tragedy would happen.
“I don’t know what’s going on. I found out what happened last night,” Dalton Olson told local media on Wednesday. “I can barely breathe.”
Balboa was on bail following a November incident in which she allegedly assaulted Dalton Olson.

Morris said April 30 was the last day Samuel was at school, and authorities are now trying to determine where he is last month as well as how he ended up in Jasper, about 130 miles north. -est of Houston.
“Our hearts go out to Samuel’s family. We are very, very saddened by the events that have brought us here today,” Morris said Wednesday. “It is an absolute tragic event and our prayers go out to the family.”
