Carvalho wrote on Instagram: “Thanks for everything you’ve done for me @officialnffc. Many thanks to all the amazing supporters, you are always in my heart!
And to add: “Very happy to accept this new challenge, impatient to get started!” Very grateful for the @udalmeria opportunity.
The Portuguese joined forest in the summer of 2018 for Benfica, for a club record of £ 13million, and made 67 appearances in the Garibaldi, scoring six goals.
He has struggled for consistent playing time under current head coach Sabri Lamouchi, having only played once this season.
Carvalho started the opener as the Reds were eliminated from the Carabao Cup against Barnsley, but has not been involved in any of the three league games so far.
Before his departure, he was part of a group training separately from the first team.
