This column is for Democrats in West Texas and beyond.
You really have to give the President some common sense because he is hurting this country and killing our state.
The president’s last weak point, which marked his presidency, came on Friday.
“I’m president, but it was horrible to see what you saw to see people treating him the way they did – horses almost crushing people tied up. It’s outrageous, I promise you these people. They will – there’s an investigation going on now, and there will be consequences. There will be consequences. It’s an embarrassment, beyond an embarrassment. It’s dangerous. It’s wrong. , it sends the wrong message to the world, sends the wrong message home. It’s just not who we are. “
Great unifier? His attack on law enforcement shows that the president is more concerned with pleasing a party than leading a nation. And Democrats, who have been so quick to trash President Trump over tweets, have remained silent about the president’s misrepresentation of facts at our border. But don’t take my word for it. The person who took the photo that launched a thousand convictions against an outdated border patrol unit, said last week that he had not seen any member of the border patrol whipping anyone. “This is something that can be misinterpreted when you look at the picture,” he told KTSM TV.
Is it important? No. The president said there would be consequences. He dug a hole for himself and would rather go against the grain than say he was wrong. It was the first eight months of Biden’s presidency in a nutshell.
Because this is an open conversation, I will challenge anyone to offer the positives to the Biden presidency, as it is impossible to see them from that perspective.
His exit from Afghanistan was simply inept. Democrats, however, have been silent.
He disappeared in action at the border. Biden and Democrats fear the wrong photo opportunity more than they want to be part of a real solution. Pew Research reported that migrant encounters at the US-Mexico border in July reached a 21-year high – 200,000 encounters. The number of monthly meetings had fallen to 16,182 by April 2020. Biden’s border tsar Kamala Harris traveled to El Paso, hundreds of kilometers from the zero point of the border battle. Biden doesn’t think a trip to the border is worth it. Democrats don’t care.
The president launched an attack on oil and gas, attempting to cripple Southeastern New Mexico’s economy and take millions of dollars out of education in the state. Fortunately, a federal judge blocked the administration’s suspension on new oil and gas leases. Democrats believe in collateral damage in the fight against the climate.
The president’s message on COVID once again put the party ahead of the country, medicine and those who work in hospitals. At this point hospitals need staff worse than anything, but the president has demanded that all health workers be fully immunized, so we are potentially a few weeks away from hospitals, including those in Midland and Odessa, losing out. the necessary staff.
In the midst of a pandemic, the president sided with a policy of open borders that made our country less healthy and decided to fight ordinary Americans. This type of message should not be tolerated by Democrats. If you believe what you hear from the president or the cable news, southern Republicans or those who attend football games are responsible for the latest increase in hospitalizations or the “unvaccinated pandemic.” The CDC, however, reported this month that some black or African Americans and Hispanics or Latinos are less likely to be vaccinated against COVID-19 than people of other racial and ethnic minority groups and non-Hispanic whites. .
In other words, promote vaccinations, leave identity politics for another time.
Once again, where are the big wins for Biden? Where are these unifying moments?
At some point, the big unifier will see its approval rating rise to 43% (53 disapprove), according to Gallup. The president will also note that his approval with independents stands at 37%, down from a personal high of 61%.
Democrats should be upset that the biggest problem for Democrats in Congress and Senate in November 2022 will not be the redistribution but the president.
They should also know that despite Gov. Abbott’s mistakes, he will be a big favorite to defeat Beto O’Rourke in the race for governor, as O’Rourke will not be able to escape the shadow of the president or his national. Party. In fact, he won’t even try, but that’s another column for another day. He will run as the candidate the National Democrats don’t want the Texans to see.
Coming back to the situation with border patrols, it is remarkable that the president did not offer his thanks to a group of men, outnumbered and under-equipped. After all, Biden is the reason waves and waves of migrants have come to the border and crossed.
However, he placed his presidency on the security and well-being of this country. We keep seeing it happen over and over again. Democrats will always find a way to blame Trump. They might as well. It beats the truth.
