HSBC, Boots and Morrisons to compete in marketing industry ‘Sprintathon’

Sixty brands have signed up to compete in the Sprintathon, which raises money for Cancer Research’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign.

More than 60 teams have signed up to join this year’s industry ‘Sprintathon’, including representatives from Boots, HSBC, Camelot, Morrisons, Just Eat, Tesco and Twinings.

The Marketing Society is again teaming up with Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up to Cancer campaign for the event in London on 14 June to raise money for both Cancer Research and The Marketing Society’s work to support future marketing talent. Creative agency Miroma is this year’s headline sponsor.

The event, which has raised £850,000 since its launch in 2016, will take place at Battersea Park Millennium Arena. The cost to enter a team is £1,000 plus VAT. Sign up now via the Marketing Society website.

Brands, agencies and media owners are all invited to put a team of four relay runners forward. Each team will complete a relay of 400m (100m per person) back-to-back until they collectively cover 42.2km – a full marathon.

Joining the brands taking part are agencies including Zenith, Wunderman Thompson, VCCP, BBH, MediaCom and Adam&EveDDB who will run alongside teams from media owners Bauer Media and Global Media, and industry bodies IAB UK, the Advertising Association and Thinkbox.

Last year’s event saw 39 brands, agencies, media owners and marketing businesses raise £52,000 for the two causes. Participating brands included Britvic, Just Eat, Camelot, Channel 4, TUI, Direct Line Group, ITV and Google.

The fastest lap last year executed by consultancy KPMG at 55 seconds.
